V2.0 Design Enhancements

• Secure-Lock Gasket: We’ve oversized the silicone ring and deepened the channel for a meticulous fit that won’t slip out when opening the lid.
• Precision Machining: Hand-drilling is a thing of the past. Every opening is now machine-milled for perfectly smooth, burr-free edges.
• Engineered Tolerances: The lid’s plastic surface is now ultra-smooth, ensuring the air filter and ink ports seat with a perfect, airtight friction fit.

The new lids are equipped with a silicone seal housed within the lid. Please ensure that the silicone seal remains properly seated when closing the lid, as it may occasionally shift or fall out. A quick visual inspection before closing will help prevent any issues. The injection port and air filter on these lids are replaceable. Just apply primer and replace the injection port and air filter as required, depending on use. It is a great idea to tilt the jar and check for leakage before and after adding it to the steriliser. If the leakage is from the injection port or the air filter, press it down firmly for 5-10 seconds, and it will do the job.

Tip-The air filter and injection port will get immense pressure from the water that’s changing to steam in the steriliser. We let the jars sterilise and cool down. Before taking them out, we make a gentle push on the air filter and injection port for them to stick back if they came loose.

Will your lids fit my mason jars?

Our lids are designed to fit mason jars labeled  Wide Mouth (86mm). These are standard sizes and fit popular branded jars such as Ball, Kerr and Aussie Mason.

We’ve also tested some unbranded/store-brand jars. In August 2026, these were compatible:

Anko (Kmart) 300ml, 550ml and 1000ml preserving jars

Other unbranded jars, or newer batches from the above, may not be the same size, and retailers can change their designs without notice. If you’re unsure, check whether your jar is labelled Regular Mouth or Wide Mouth on the retailer’s website, or order a single lid to test the fit first. That’s the best way to know they’ll work with your jars.

Our lids are not compatible with unthreaded jars, such as Fowlers Vacola.

Save time and effort from drilling holes on Mason Jar lids. These Lab-class mason jar lids are designed specifically for liquid culture and grain spawn cultivation. The wide mouth lid includes a Microppose injection port and a micron air filter. The injection port allows the needle to pass through multiple times while self-healing. The micron air filter has a vent of 0.22 microns, allowing the appropriate exchange of gases whilst remaining sterile. The filter and injection port have a strong adhesive that can withstand autoclave temperatures of over 120 Celsius (250F) at 15psi for extended periods. These Lids do not rust, unlike metal lids, since they are made of plastic.
