Have you ever wondered how to preserve mushroom spores for extended periods or wished to maintain the distinct geometry of spore prints? Our Glass Spore Print Slides booklet offers a durable solution for collecting and preserving spore prints over many years while keeping their shapes perfectly intact. This method allows you to gather spores from around the world, examine their unique geometry, or store them for future use.

What is a Spore Booklet?

A spore booklet consists of two panes of glass taped on one side, allowing for easy spore print collection. Once a spore print is placed inside, the other three sides are sealed with masking tape to secure the print.

Please note: Masking tape and actual mushroom spore prints are not included with your order.

Preparing the Slide:

  1. Clean the inside of the glass with soapy water and dry thoroughly.
  2. Use alcohol to wipe the glass for sterilization.
  3. Place a mushroom on the glass to collect the spore print. After 12-24 hours, you should have your spore print.
  4. Close the glass slides and seal the three remaining sides with masking tape.

The glass dimensions are sufficient to accommodate spore prints from the majority of mushroom strains.

Storage:

Spores stored inside these Glass Spore Print Slides remain viable for years if kept away from light, moisture, and severe temperature fluctuations. Store the slides with mushroom spore prints in a dark, cool, and dry spot at room temperature. Properly stored prints can be preserved for years.

Quality:

These premium quality slides are manufactured in Germany. The edges of the glass are cut at 90 degrees and polished to ensure safe handling without the risk of cuts.

To Germinate the Spores:

  1. Use an inoculation loop and flame sterilize it.
  2. Cool it on the same agar plate intended for spore germination.
  3. Collect a few spores from your spore print and make an ‘S’ pattern on your agar plate.
  4. Leave it in a dark place for 2-3 weeks to allow for germination.
